Millbank, single head, includes heavy duty vibratory conveying system
with roll over heating/toasting system. Ideal for deactivating enzymes,
stablising flours, producing puffed cereals, gelatinized starches and also
breakfast cereals and snacks, with an output 60kg per hour.
The extruder function depends on the type of product to be produced and
basically works by feeding the top hopper with pre-conditioned grits or
rough milled flour.
The flow of material is controlled by a variable speed screw feeder. As
the material enters the main shaft it processes through high speed segmented
screws and a series of restriction rings that can be configured in many
ways to suit individual product.
The product is then extruded and cut-off into the required lengths.
Depending on the ingredients and the configuration, the product can either
be expanded directly at the head or processed as a half product dried and
expanded later.
This process also enables to extrude breakfast cereal, bran sticks or flakes
when coupled with a flaking roller. The attachments are relatively simple
and can be produced by an engineer.
Depending on the product, the shapes possibe varies as the same mould can
produce a variety of shapes depending whether it is extruded at low pressure
or expanded.
The equipment has previously been used to produce oatbran straws breakfast
cereal and rice bran straws. It has also been used to produce expanded cereal
snacks. The machine is constructed of stainless steel except for the barrel
and screw assembly which is of a special hardened steel. The line
consists of:
1. Extruder with variable feed hopper fitted with agitation
unit.
2. Dies and screw segments.
3. Cutter system with variable speed controller.
4. Heavy duty vibratory conveying table.
5. Mobile infrared toasting bank.
